This year was supposed to be the 25th anniversary for James Kanne's Catfish Derby Days Chess Tournament in Franklin, MN. It is a really special tournament to me and a lot of other people, with lots of great memories of games played and good chess friends who are no longer with us.
Anyway, about 2 weeks ago I went on the Chess Castle website for some information and there was an announcement from James that he would not be holding the tournament this year because of scheduling conflicts. Anyway, at both the Jackson Open and Okoboji I encouraged players to come to Franklin this year and now there is no tournament!
