Quad Cities Summer Chess Open 2019
On July 20th, 27 chess players gathered to celebrate the International Chess Day in Moline.
The Quad Cities Summer Chess Open 2019 was celebrated at WIU-QC and was directed by Tony Britton who was supported by Rick Rector. In the Open section, NM Joseph Wan and Thomas Hesse shared the first place, local player James Beiderbecke got first place in the U1400, and Trent Lierly also from the Quad Cities won the first place in the Beginners section. The event was organized by the Leathernecks and Illowa Chess Clubs. Next tournament will be the Quad Cities Chess Open on October 26th and 27th, in which the Open section will be US and FIDE rated. Also, the Fall Scholastic tournament will take place on November 2nd. Congratulations to all chess players who came from Fort Madison, Burlington, Cedar Falls, Des Moines, Iowa City, and the whole Quad Cities to play our favorite game!
