67th Iowa Open

Congratulations to Valeriy Kosokin for winning the 67th Iowa Open Chess Championship. Valeriy was 4-0 going into the last round and was able to pull out a draw being down a knight to Mr Volokymyr Buranovskyi. Mr Buranovskyi is new to the Iowa Chess Scene and has sure made an impact in his first year tying for second in the Iowa Open along with Iowa favorites Tim McEntee and Robert Reynolds (not pictured).

In the reserve section another newcomer to Iowa Chess Mr WIllard McGill swept the reserve section 5-0 in his very first US Chess rated tournament.

Thank you goes out to the ISU Chess Club and their president Alex Menke who hosted the event.
